100BPM Setlist

List of 100BPM songs

Learning to play your instrument comfortably at the most common tempos is an important part of being a musician. In fact, you can have all the tricks and licks in the world but without the ability to keep a consistent speed, your playing will never sound its best.

One of the most common tempos you will come across as a musician is 100 BPM (beats per minute). It is the standard tempo of a marching band, the optimum tempo for CPR (100 compressions per minute to help jump start a heart) and is also the tempo used in a lot of dance and rnb tracks.

Although a good metronome is great for developing your ability to play at a constant speed, there are a huge collection of songs you can also play along to that will improve your timing.

Here is a small list of 100BPM tracks you can practice along to right away:

  • Pink ‘Stupid Girl’
  • ABBA ‘Dancing Queen’
  • The Clash ‘Hitsville UK’
  • Blondie ‘In the Flesh’
  • Queen ‘Another One Bites The Dust’
  • Seal ‘Prayer for the Dying’
  • U2 ‘Seconds’
  • Madonna ‘La Isla Bonita’
  • Santana ‘Maria Maria’
  • Phil Collins ‘Another Day in Paradise’
  • 4 Seasons ‘Oh What a Night’
  • U2 ‘Sunday Bloody Sunday’
  • The Beatles ‘Hello, Goodbye’
  • Carpenters ‘Top of the World’
  • Rolling Stones ‘Have you seen your mother baby’
  • Stevie Wonder ‘My Cherie Amour’
  • ACDC ‘Highway to Hell’

(Note: The songs listed above range in tempo from 95bpm to 105bpm.)

Something else the Boss TU-80 has that other metronomes don’t is a little function known as Reference Tone Play.  If you prefer to tune by ear, this is for you!  And if you have favorite tuner settings, you’re in luck because the Boss TU-80 Tuner and Metronome also has a memory function to store those very settings.

For variety, the Boss TU-80 Tuner and Metronome offers 7 rhythms and 10 different beats to tune and practice with.  As a musician you know that the more rhythms and beats, the better!  The animated LCD display also gives you a visual reference as you tune almost any instrument easily with the Boss TU-80.

Korg MA-30 Metronome

The Korg MA30 Metronome

The Korg MA-30 digital metronome is a handy little tool to have around.  We’ve done a little review of the effective metronome to help you understand a little more about it.  It’s not expensive yet it has a lot of bang for the buck when it comes to electronic metronomes.  Not only is it sleek and compact but the features include everything you need in such a device.

First of all, there are 13 different rhythms built in, so you can practice a lot more than with most electronic metronomes.  These rhythms include duplets, triplets, quadruplets, and both triplets and quadruplets with the inner beats omitted.  Additionally, there are 12 reference pitches (ranging from C4 to B4) which make it easier to tune your instrument, especially on the go.

If the variety of rhythm and pitches isn’t enough for you, there’s more to the Korg MA 30.  In addition to the audible click, you also get a highly visual liquid crystal pendulum so that you have a visual tempo reference.  This is great for those just getting into music.  Furthermore, the Korg MA has adjustable calibration (from 438-445 Hz).

As a musician you are probably already aware that the Korg line of tuners and metronomes is truly innovative, but you haven’t seen anything till you’ve experienced the Korg MA 30!  This little electronic metronome is packed with awesome features, allows for volume control, and is extremely power efficient.  (You get up to 250 hours of continual use with just two AAA batteries.)

This ultra portable electronic metronome fits easily in your pocket, or can slide into almost any instrument case pouch, and is well worth a try.  The Korg MA 30 metronome is truly a musical tuning ingenuity!
